The history of Bitubo
Founded in 1963, C.D.A Bitubo demonstrated right from the start its ability to manufacture cutting-edge damping solutions for demanding applications. Bitubo produced innovative damping solutions for buildings, oil-drilling platforms, ship engines and artificial joints, among others.
In 1973, Bitubo stepped into the spotlight of the motorcycle world by introducing shock absorbers connected by a pair of rubber equalising hoses. This shock absorber was an immediate and enormous success, praised by the great champions of its time. At the same time, the pair of hoses used in the shock absorbers sealed the Bitubo name for years to come (Bitubo: two hoses).
In 1979, Bitubo achieved its first world championship in Road Racing, ridden by E. Lazzarini.
In 1992, the steering damper equipped with a nitrogen reservoir parallel to the damper body — still representing top technology even today — was patented.
In 1993, Bitubo became the first in the world to release front forks equipped with a separate auxiliary reservoir. At the same time, they were among the first front forks to utilise the “Big Piston” design.
In 1998, Bitubo once again proved its place at the forefront of modern damping technology by releasing the Mono 4 Regolazioni series rear shock absorbers. The design, protected by several international patents, ensured a level of performance that competitors could not match. Thanks to its outstanding solutions that pushed the boundaries of damping technology, the Mono 4 Regolazioni series — even more than 10 years after its release — could compete on equal terms with today’s challengers.
In 2000, Bitubo once again pushed the boundaries of damping technology by introducing the fully on-the-fly adjustable, pressurised HDX00 racing fork. The fork uses a completely redesigned, patent-protected “Big Piston” design. The new fork was immediately put into use in the SBK World Championship. In 2009, Bitubo released the entirely new FPS hydraulic system (Full Pressure System) for the ECH29 and RDH fork series. The patented FPS design has convinced racing teams around the world with its superiority.
In 2013, Bitubo released the electronically adjustable DigiShox suspension series for modern street and racing bikes. The Bitubo DS system enables suspension adjustment while riding at the push of a button. The user can modify and upload the damping settings to the system using a smartphone.
Bitubo today
The shock absorber range covers over 1,400 items, encompassing all two-wheelers from Superbikes to scooters. Bitubo represents the best choice for riders who are looking for a clearly superior alternative to the original suspension on their bike. Investing in suspension brings an immediate improvement to the bike’s performance, riding comfort and handling in extreme situations.
Bitubo shock absorbers are kept at the very forefront of damping technology through close cooperation with racing teams, leading research centres in the field and universities. The products are developed and manufactured using the latest knowledge and manufacturing techniques in the industry. Continuous product testing, both simulated and in real life, ensures a constant lead over competitors.
This is also reflected in continuous success on the race tracks. The competitors who trust Bitubo race in all the prestigious series, including: WSBK, BSB, CIV, CEV, IDM, as well as numerous national series. The most recent being Kari Vehniäinen’s Finnish Superbike Championship in the 2014 season.
