When it comes to brakes, there is one brand above all others
EBC Brakes…
EBC Brakes is a privately owned and managed pioneer in the manufacture of brake components. EBC Brakes produces the world’s widest range of brake pads and brake discs. The range covers over 5,000 items for virtually any device that needs to be brought to a stop. The brake components are manufactured at EBC Brakes’ own factories in the UK and the USA. The current trend is to move production to low-cost countries, but EBC Brakes has chosen a different path. Brake components manufactured at the company’s own factories allow for continuous product development as well as quality control of production. This ensures the superior performance and quality of the brake components. The range covers brake pads and brake discs for almost every wheeled device on the planet. In addition, the range includes brake pads for wind turbines, military vehicles, trains and a wide variety of industrial braking applications.
The brake pad range includes Kevlar® brake pads, sintered metal brake pads, ceramic brake pads and carbon-based longlife brake pads. The brake disc range covers cast iron brake discs for cars and stainless steel brake discs for motorcycles. In addition, the range includes brake pads and brake discs for other recreational vehicles, including ATVs and bicycles.
Over the years, there has been a high turnover of manufacturers in the brake components market. Many traditional players have also resorted to adding their own name to brake components produced in low-cost countries to boost consumer confidence. EBC has not gone down this road, but still holds on to the idea that the manufacture of brake components must aim for the best possible quality and not only the lowest possible costs. Skimping on brake components can often end up costing the consumer more through faster wear of the parts. Even more important than this is ensuring that new brake components are sufficiently high-performing for their intended application and that they also withstand use.
The dynamometers used in development work and quality control at EBC’s factories have been an investment of over 3 million dollars in the competitiveness and safety of the brake components. In addition, over 60 years of experience in developing friction materials serves as a guarantee to consumers that EBC’s products offer the best possible performance. In addition to the high quality of the products, the environment is also important to EBC. For this reason, careful consideration is given both to the materials used in production and to the development of the production facilities themselves.

The EBC Brakes brake component range covers all areas of motorcycling. The range includes, among others, Kevlar brake pads, sintered metal brake pads, including the world-famous HH sintered metal pads, as well as the carbon-graphite blend brake pads popular for offroad and ATV use. The brake disc range includes front and rear brake discs for almost all motorcycles, for both street and offroad use. The latest development step is the patented SD system for fastening the brake ring, which prevents braking vibration caused by seized rivets or, in the worst case, the warping of the brake rings.

Motorcycling has been closely tied to EBC Brakes’ operations since the current owner Andy Freeman started out in 1978. As a passionate motorcyclist, he wanted to develop the best brake components on the market for the bikes he rode. This has helped the company understand the important difference between brake components made for motorcycle and racing use and the rest of the braking industry. Values generally considered important in industry, such as low production cost and high production volumes, do not play a significant role in these applications. Motorcyclists know to demand the best possible performance from their brakes, even if they are not racing their bikes. Hardly anyone rides a motorcycle out of necessity but to enjoy its performance, and the brakes are an important part of this performance.
Because motorcycle brake pads are considerably smaller in dimensions than car brake pads, very exotic friction materials can be used in them while the price still remains reasonable. For this reason, EBC’s product development engineers have been given very free rein to continuously develop the best friction materials on the market for motorcycles.
A motorcycle offers its rider hardly any protection in the event of an accident. For this reason, riders are rightly wary of using poor-quality brake components. From time to time, however, very cheap brake pads, often manufactured in Asia, appear on the market. Unfortunately, these pads often use very dubious bonding and friction materials. Impressive sales packaging with catchy advertising text may deceive consumers into believing it is a quality product that can be safely fitted to motorcycles. It is good to remember, however, that the production of impressive sales packaging requires no know-how whatsoever about brake components and friction materials.
For this reason, EBC Brakes products are always a safe choice. Competitors are unable to match the quality of the products, and the wide range of products ensures that the right product is found for every application.
