Koso is a Taiwanese company founded in 1981, specialising in manufacturing various gauges for motor vehicles. Our range includes the best gauges and instrument clusters suited for motorcycle use. All Koso gauges are fully electric and can be installed on almost any moped, motorcycle or ATV. The gauges come with a 6-month warranty covering all defects caused by manufacturing faults. The warranty does not cover damage caused by incorrect installation, so if you are unsure about the installation, ask for advice if needed before installing.

Basic information about how the gauge works:

• Speed measurement uses Koso’s own sensor, which is always supplied with the gauge. The included speed sensor is either passive or active depending on the contents of the respective gauge package. A passive sensor requires a magnet to operate. An active one needs no magnets at all; instead, the sensor detects, for example, the holes in a brake disc. The rolling circumference and the number of magnets/holes are programmed into the gauge, which uses them to calculate the speed. The rolling circumference is set to the millimetre, so the speed display is extremely accurate.

• On most bike models the tachometer works from the original rev signal wire. The tachometer can also be connected directly to the low-voltage side of the coil or to the pick-up sensor. Connection via an induction loop around the spark plug lead is also possible. The number of cylinders and the stroke count of the engine are programmed into the gauge, which uses them to calculate the engine speed.

• Most gauges also have a temperature sensor. The sensor has a PT 1/8 thread (a tapered pipe thread that seals thanks to its conical shape), and it fits directly in place of the original temperature sensor on many bike models. If needed, various adapters are also available for the sensor, allowing it to be connected to water hoses of different diameters or in place of the oil plug. An alternative is a temperature sensor placed under the spark plug.

• The fuel display uses the bike’s original float sensor in the tank. The resistance range is set to the correct ohm range in the gauge. If the sensor is not connected, the fuel display will not appear at all.
