A hybrid helmet intercom packed with Midland's latest features, complete with mesh and Bluetooth intercom systems.

The R1 MESH delivers outstanding sound quality thanks to an audio processor and speakers optimised by Italian audio giant RCF. Low power consumption combined with a generously sized battery provides up to 15 hours of talk time via mesh and up to 23 hours via Bluetooth. The R1 MESH also works with Midland's current range of helmet intercoms, as well as smart devices, navigators and motorcycle TFT systems.

OBI Compatibility

In universal intercom modes, devices from different brands often leave some intercom features unused due to differing standards.

In 2022, helmet intercom manufacturers Midland, Cardo and UClear agreed on a shared OBI (Open Bluetooth Protocol) data transfer standard, allowing devices from these manufacturers to communicate with each other on equal terms. Thanks to this, devices from OBI manufacturers let you take full advantage of all intercom features when riding with a mate using a different helmet intercom. The latest firmware updates roll out the new standard to older devices from these manufacturers too.

In late 2024, Midland released firmware updates for its R and PRO series devices, allowing Sena and Interphone devices to be connected without the function-limiting universal intercom mode. Update your device to the latest firmware version following the instructions on Midland's website to activate the new features.
