When you move more or the outside temperature rises, the phase-change thermo beads inside Outlast — which contain paraffin — begin to change from solid to liquid, storing heat in the process. This transformation keeps your thermal balance feeling stable. The energy needed to activate this process comes from your own body heat or the rising outside temperature. As you start to cool down, the Outlast thermo beads begin to change back from liquid to solid. During this transformation, the heat stored by the thermo beads while you were active is returned right back to you.
