A hybrid helmet communicator packed with Midland's latest features, combining mesh and Bluetooth intercom technology.

The R1 MESH delivers outstanding sound quality thanks to an audio processor optimised by Italian audio giant RCF, paired with premium speakers. Low power consumption and a generously sized battery provide up to 15 hours of talk time via mesh and up to 23 hours via Bluetooth. The R1 MESH is also compatible with other current Midland communicators, as well as smart devices, navigators and motorcycle TFT systems.

OBI Compatibility

In universal intercom modes, some intercom features are often left unused between devices from different manufacturers due to differing standards.

In 2022, helmet communicator manufacturers Midland, Cardo and UClear agreed on a shared OBI (Open Bluetooth Protocol) data transfer standard, allowing devices from these brands to pair with each other on equal terms. Thanks to this, OBI-compatible devices let you make full use of all intercom features when riding with a friend who uses a different communicator. The latest firmware updates also bring the new standard to these manufacturers' older devices.

In late 2024, Midland released firmware updates for its R and PRO series devices, enabling Sena and Interphone units to connect without the function-limiting universal intercom mode. Update your device to the latest firmware version following the instructions on Midland's website to unlock the new features.
